Baur Shirla Cable Sheath Testing and Fault Locator
The Baur Shirla is a mobile solution providing cable sheath testing, fault pre-location, and pin-pointing in a single, compact device. It is designed for cable and cable sheath testing, as well as locating faults caused by earth contact.
- Data export via USB interface
- Mains and battery operated
- Simple operation with an intuitive user interface
Fault pre-location is based on the measuring bridge principle according to Murray and Glaser. This bridge is specially dimensioned for power cables but also enables pre-location for control and lighting cables. Zero balance and evaluation take place automatically, with the fault distance displayed in meters. Accuracy is further enhanced by the ability to enter parameters for various cable sections.
For fault pin-pointing, the Shirla generates a pulsed voltage up to 10 kV, permitting the use of the step voltage method. When used with the protrac® pin-pointing system, cable sheath faults and earth contact issues can be located quickly and accurately.
